Alzheimer’s Care Armenia is One of Twelve Select Recipients of the Inaugural Global Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative Grant Program for Healthcare System Preparedness

The Brain Health Armenia Project is a multidisciplinary country-wide mobile memory screening and Alzheimer’s disease training program in Armenia. The project collaborates with the Armenian EyeCare Project to provide cognitive screening throughout Armenia and is endorsed by the Republic of Armenia Ministry of Health. The team, working closely with the Armenian EyeCare Project as well as conducting screenings in Armenia’s clinics and hospitals, has screened over 2000 people since June 2022 and has trained over 350 primary care physicians and nurses.

The Brain Health Armenia Project’s team includes primary care physicians, nurses, psychologists and social workers who will provide didactic and hands-on training to primary care physicians, nurses and family caregivers to improve the care of the person with dementia in Armenia. In addition to Dr. Mahakian leading the team, Dr. Samson Khachatryan, Chairman, Department of Neurology, National Institute of Health, Armenia and Dr. Gevorg Pashikyan, Geriatric Psychiatrist serve as clinical consultants. This project is making a sustainable impact by training and educating healthcare professionals and increase visibility and awareness about Alzheimer’s disease.

Alzheimer’s disease is on the rise in Armenia and Alzheimer’s Care Armenia is leading the way to make systemic changes that will improve the care of the person with dementia and support for their families.

The mission of Alzheimers Care Armenia is to raise awareness and offer solutions for the care and treatment of people with Alzheimer’s Disease in Armenia. One of the ways we accomplish this is by creating sustainable programs and services for people with memory loss and their families. We work directly with Armenia’s institutions for the elderly as well as develop new programs that increase the quality of care of the person with dementia.

We all know Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias are prevalent and on the rise in Armenia. Dr. Jane is a licensed Clinician and Gerontologist specializing in working with adults with Alzheimer’s disease, other dementias and their families. Our vision is to inspire hope, transform lives and enhance the quality of life for people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families in Armenia.
